New England Artist James Charles

Artist J. Charles, resides and maintains his studio and gallery in Marlborough, Massachusetts. James Charles was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in 1966. As a young artist, James would spend summer vacations on the Atlantic coast with his sketchbook capturing seascapes and developing a fondness for historic New England that has become his passion.

After graduating from Penn College with a degree in art, James worked as a creative director for an advertising agency. In 1996 the artist moved to Massachusetts to pursue his art career painting commissioned oil portraits of senior business and government officials. A recipient of national and international awards and honors, his works are proudly featured in private collections and in the finest of family homes. In his spare time James enjoys spending time outdoors exploring the beauty of the New England countryside.

Artist J. Charles has turned his passion for oil painting and love for the outdoors into a series of paintings that are available on his new online art gallery. This is what the artist says about his art gallery, “I am pleased to offer an online art gallery experience where visitors can browse my latest works, select and preview different custom framing options. Visitors may choose to acquire the original painting, a signed limited edition signed Giclee or a smaller open edition print designed to fit a particular living space.” J. Charles plans to add at least one new painting every month to his gallery and release one new series of paintings each year that captures the classic beauty of New England landscapes and seascapes.

J. Charles says this about his work, “The goal of my art is to paint a scene that moves the viewer to a place where they can escape for a moment. I try to invite the viewer into each work with an intriguing composition that stirs emotions. The use of light, texture and color allow my works to take the viewer to another place, a place where they can be challenged, invigorated, or at peace.
